Richmond, VA, January 13, 2014 – Dixon Hughes Goodman, the largest public accounting firm headquartered in the Southern U.S., announces Paul Thompson, CPA has joined the firm as a Partner in the Richmond office.  Thompson has more than 17 years of experience in public accounting serving businesses in the Virginia marketplace and will serve as one of the firm’s advisory leaders on SEC Services.

Paul Thompson’s areas of professional focus include experience in providing audit, accounting and advisory services for businesses across a wide range of industries, including professional services, financial services, not-for-profit organizations and colleges and universities.  During his career as a Certified Public Accountant, Thompson has consulted privately-held, publicly traded and private equity-backed entities in various service based industries.  

Thompson has significant experience advising clients about SEC regulatory matters and increasing shareholder value in working with Private Equity Firms and their portfolio companies.  In addition to his in-depth knowledge of asset and liability management, Thompson has spent considerable time working with clients in the areas of strategic planning, accounting and internal control, liquidity management, reserve requirements, mergers and acquisitions, and consulting businesses on improved operating efficiency and profitability.    

Prior to joining Dixon Hughes Goodman, Thompson was the Office Managing Partner in McGladrey LLP’s Richmond office and he has been recognized as a Virginia Business “Super CPA.”
