Norfolk, VA. (January 20, 2015) – Vandeventer Black LLP is pleased to announce the addition of accomplished commercial litigator Ellen F. Bergren to the firm. She will be based in Norfolk, VA where the law offices are headquartered. Bergren’s primary practice will focus on complex commercial litigation and general commercial litigation, as well as creditors’ rights and bankruptcy. Bergren has expertise in federal trial and appellate practice, and has previous litigation experience involving products liability, mass tort, insurance, and reinsurance defense.

Bergren has substantial experience in federal and state court, most recently obtaining a defense verdict in federal court as part of a trial team defending a major automobile manufacturer in a high-profile design defect case. Bergren recently completed a judicial clerkship with a federal circuit judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Prior to that, she served as a law clerk for a U.S. District Judge in Charleston, West Virginia and a U.S. Magistrate Judge in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Bergren is an active member of the Norfolk Portsmouth Bar Association and the Tidewater section of the Federal Bar Association.
