PBMARES’ GARNER AND PETRUSIAK INCLUDED IN VSCPA’S 2016 TOP 5 UNDER 35

RICHMOND, VA (June 27, 2016) – Two Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) at PBMares, LLP – a leading public accounting and consulting firm serving clients nationally and internationally – have been named to the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) 2016 Top 5 Under 35. Bo Garner, Audit Manager and Co-Leader of the Not-for-Profit Services Team, and Carolanne Petrusiak, Tax Manager, were included on this year’s prestigious list.

The Top 5 Under 35 Award recognizes young VSCPA members who have shown excellence in one or more of the following: professional achievement, VSCPA chapter accomplishment, community contribution, or dedication to the CPA profession.

Petrusiak is chair of the VSCPA’s Northern Chapter and is a past volunteer with the VSCPA’s Nonprofit Pro Bono Assistance Program.  In addition, she assisted with the launch of the Young Professionals Network and the chapter’s International Tax and Business special interest group which provides educational and networking opportunities for practitioners interested in expanding their knowledge of unique issues related to U.S. businesses expanding overseas or foreign individuals investing in the U.S.  She graduated from the VSCPA’s Leadership Academy and was previously named as a “Super CPA” by Virginia Business magazine.  She is a credentialed Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.

Garner is the VSCPA’s firm ambassador for PBMares and serves on the VSCPA’s Young Professionals Advisory Council, the Mentorship Task Force and the “Ask A CPA Email Program” for the nonprofit industry.  He is a graduate of the VSCPA’s Leadership Academy’s inaugural class and is a recipient of Virginia Business magazine’s “Super CPA” recognition.  He volunteers on a committee for the Suffolk chapter of Ducks Unlimited, is an active member with the North Suffolk chapter of Rotary International and has served on the board for the Nansemond Suffolk Pop Warner football league. He is a graduate of Randolph-Macon College with an MBA from the College of William & Mary.
