EDINBURG, VA – July 5, 2016 – Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) has announced a $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross West Virginia Region to assist with efforts to repair homes and communities following the devastating floods last week.
Shentel provides Internet, TV and phone service to the majority of the counties affected by the storms. Shentel operates a call center and three retail stores and employs a total of 280 people in the Mountain State.
“We are proud to partner with the American Red Cross whose volunteers are working tirelessly to bring some relief to the people, families and communities affected by this disaster,” said Chris French, President of Shentel. “We were on the ground immediately and understand the depth of this disaster.” He noted that Shentel crews worked through the weekend to find and repair company equipment destroyed by the flood waters.
In addition to the donation, employees joined forces and donated bleach, buckets and other household cleaning supplies to the effort. The Shentel Marketing trailer went out Friday, June 24, and took water, hand sanitizers, T-shirts and other items to the towns of Ronceverte and Richwood, in Greenbrier and Nicholas counties, respectively.
Shentel is headquartered in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and has offices in Weston, Summersville and Welch.
