CREWE, Va – The annual Opportunity Fund Skeet & Trap Classic will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in Appomattox.
The day will begin with registration at 8 a.m., and participants will shoot one round each of skeet and trap, have breakfast and lunch, win prizes and take home awards for their shooting skills.
All proceeds will go to the nonprofit Southside Opportunity Fund’s scholarships for graduating high school seniors in Southside Electric Cooperative’s (SEC) service area that stretches from Bedford to Petersburg. In just three years, more than 50 scholarships totaling $56,000 have been awarded to graduates headed to college or a trade/technical school whose parents or guardians are served by SEC.
The individual registration fee is $75, while squads of five can sign up for $325. All participants must provide their own guns and ammunition, and skeet and trap shooters of all levels are welcome. The event is limited to the first 40 participants, who must register in advance. The deadline to sign up is Sept. 26.
Sponsorship and donation opportunities are available for businesses and individuals who’d like to support the event and local scholarships. Sponsor returns include having a squad in the event, banners, signs and recognition at the event.
