HM Restoration

CREWE, Va – As of 12:45 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, approximately 2,900 Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) members remain without power after the catastrophic effects of Hurricane Michael.

SEC now has a more complete assessment of the overall devastation from this historic storm and continues receiving additional crews from neighboring utilities to supplement the nearly 185 SEC, mutual aid and contract personnel currently working in the field. These crews were recently released from restoring power in other regions impacted by this historic storm event.

Due to this new information and additional resources, we can now establish an estimated restoration time for all storm-related outages by the evening of Thursday, October 18.

Despite the massive damage and dangerous conditions, approximately 37,000 members have been restored from the initial 40,000 impacted.

SEC is thankful for members’ patience and wishes to again remind all to please stay away from any downed power lines and equipment. Treat all damaged electrical infrastructure as if it is energized.

To report outages, please call: 1-866-878-5514. Another option for outage reporting is through SEC’s TextPower service. Members who are enrolled can text #out to 866-878-5514.
