Lenhart Pettit is pleased to announce that Joseph W. Cooch and Andrew P. Toney have joined the law firm in its Charlottesville office.

Joseph Cooch focuses his practice on all aspects of the construction industry, including representation of owners, contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals in commercial, government, agricultural, industrial and residential construction. He has successfully litigated disputes before juries, judges, arbitration panels, and the U.S. Civilian Board of Contract Appeals. Joe also draws from his extensive litigation experience to help clients avoid disputes through implementation of effective risk management practices and careful drafting and negotiation of construction, design, and design-build contracts. Joe’s experience includes litigation and construction law matters in both public service and in the private sector. Prior to joining Lenhart Pettit, he served as Assistant General Counsel in the U.S. General Service Administration’s Real Estate Litigation group. Joe earned his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University, Lexington, VA, with a B.A. in Anthropology, cum laude and his law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law, Baltimore, MD, cum laude. Joe is licensed in the District of Columbia and Maryland; his Virginia license pending.

Andrew Toney focuses his practice on general business counseling, including entity formation, business disputes, asset and stock sales, trademark protection, and more. He has worked with a wide variety of incorporated and limited business entities, from manufacturers to health care institutions. Andrew is from Shelby, North Carolina and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned distinctions as a recipient of the Business Essentials Certification from the Kenan-Flagler Business School and as a three-year letterman with Carolina’s varsity football program where he was a team manager. Andrew graduated from the University of Richmond School of Law. While there, he clerked for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He also served as an editor of the Richmond Journal of Law and Technology and participated in the Intellectual Property and Transactional Law Clinic.
