MITRE names five to new advisory board

Center for Technology & National Security board members include former Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert O. Work

The Mitre Corp. (MITRE) has named five members to its newly established Center for Technology & National Security (CTNS) board, the McLean-based nonprofit research and development organization announced Monday. The center links MITRE with senior government officials for research and development purposes.

Advisory board members help to guide the center’s efforts in providing research, analysis and insights to military and intelligence leaders. Board members will engage with publications, educational programs, speaking engagements and events as part of their membership.

The advisory board includes (pictured above from left to right):

  • General (Ret.) John Campbellformer vice chief of staff of the U.S. Army
  • Lisa Disbrowformer undersecretary of the U.S. Air Force
  • Admiral (Ret.) Bill Gortneyformer commander, U.S. Northern Command
  • Vice Admiral (Ret.) Bob Murrettformer director, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
  • Robert O. “Bob” Workformer deputy secretary of defense

“CTNS builds on the experience and expertise of thousands of our nation’s most respected scientific and engineering minds,” Bill LaPlante, senior vice president for the MITRE National Security Sector, said in a statement. “MITRE has provided trusted national security solutions for more than 60 years. CTNS gives us another way to apply our unique, unbiased vantage point and technical skills to support defense and intelligence communities with bold, innovative solutions as they face adversaries and environments that are more challenging than ever.”

MITRE was founded in 1958 and has more than 8,400 employees.
