REC Names Director of Accounting and Internal Controls

Fredericksburg, Va.—Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) has named Rebecca Messerle the Director of Accounting and Internal Controls.

View More: https://thephotographysmiths.pass.us/rec2019In this role, she oversees the Cooperative’s accounting functions, coordinates finance-related statements and keeps staff updated on best accounting practices.

“Ms. Messerle’s accounting experience in the cooperative industry will continue to move REC forward,” said Tosh Bowe, Managing Director—Administrative Services/Controller. “She has the drive and expertise needed to maintain REC’s role as an industry leader.”

Joining REC in 2002 as an Accounting Specialist, Messerle became an Accountant/Analyst in 2006 and most recently served as Supervisor of Accounting from 2017 to 2022.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa. She is a Texas Licensed – Certified Public Accountant and earned the Rural Utilities Service Borrowers Accounting Certification. Messerle represents REC on the National Information Solutions Cooperative Large Utility Committee. She is also a member of the National Society of Accounts for Cooperatives’ Electric Chapter Cooperative Board.

A resident of Spotsylvania County, Messerle volunteers with Friends of the Central Rappahannock Regional Library and supports United Way and various animal rescues. She and her husband, Brad, have two rescue dogs, Toby and Hudson.

REC provides electric service to over 172,000 connections in parts of 22 Virginia counties. With its general office in Fredericksburg, Va., the Cooperative operates and maintains more than 18,000 miles of power lines through its service area, which ranges from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
