The Hopewell/Prince George Chamber of Commerce announces the appointment of a long-time active member Dana Newcomer, Associate Vice President for the Community College Workforce Alliance. Newcomer ascended to the role following a year as the Vice President of the Board, assuming the role January 1, 2023. This appointment is just one of many strategic Chamber actions on the start of the Chamber’s 102nd year of service to the region’s businesses and community.
Dana began her career as a CTE educator in Tidewater, Virginia. Following career aspirations, she and her husband relocated to the region, where she joined the Community College Workforce Alliance as an Apprenticeship Coordinator and has earned increasing levels of responsibility managing workforce training programs across multiple sectors and working with many companies in the HPG Chamber.
Dana earned her Master’s degree in Project Management and is PMP (Project Management Professional), CPP (Certified Program Planner), and Scrum Master Certified. Her primary office is located at Brightpoint Community College. Her skills in program management, workforce development, and knowledge of many of the needs of employers in the chamber, make her an ideal choice for a time when talent recruiting, retention, and development is critical for most organizations.

Joining the board as new directors in 2023 are Lee Bujakowski, Attorney, Marks and Harrison and Mark Wainright, Director Procurement Integrated Supply Chain, Advansix.

Tourism revenues have grown for the city and county in the past years, so we will continue our work to grow tourism, including a growing relationship with Charles City County, which includes our collaboration with others to launch a new tour this spring through five river facing jurisdictions Other priorities include continuing to strengthen our relationship with local government as we navigate the uncertainties and celebrate successes. We will continue to support successful initiatives that are improving the health and vitality of the community.”
