Richmond, Virginia – Moments ago, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients of the 2023 Legislator of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Awards. These awards recognize legislators for their support of the principles and initiatives outlined in the Chamber’s long-term economic development plan, Blueprint Virginia 2030.

Blueprint Virginia 2030 is a plan of action to ensure the Commonwealth strengthens and secures its position as a leader in the global economy and is the best state in the nation for business. The Virginia Chamber collected input by bringing together leaders in business, economic development, workforce, education, housing, and other areas to ensure statewide representation of priorities for Virginia’s economic prosperity.

“Today, I am proud to recognize a few of the legislators who have played an integral role in supporting the business community and the goals of Blueprint Virginia 2030,” said Barry DuVal, President and CEO of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. “At the Chamber, we deeply appreciate and recognize the important role legislators play in maintaining Virginia’s reputation as a top state for business.”

The Virginia Chamber recognized Delegate Carrie Coyner as the 2023 Legislator of the Year.

“I thank the Virginia Chamber for the honor of being selected as the Legislator of the Year,” said Delegate Carrie Coyner. “I value my accomplishments for the service they provide to my constituents and Virginia.”

Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to legislators for their longtime dedication and service to the Commonwealth. Senator George Barker, Senator Lynwood Lewis, Senator Tommy Norment, Senator Dick Saslaw, and Delegate Roxann Robinson were awarded with this distinction.
