BRISTOL, Va. — Strongwell (USA), the recognized leader in the manufacture of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites utilizing the pultrusion process, is pleased to welcome its Spring 2024 high school work-based learning students in the company’s widest educational outreach to date.
Students this year represent five schools – Dobyns Bennett, John Battle, Sullivan East, Tennessee High and West Ridge – from four school systems and two states. All these students will gain practical, real-world experience working in an industrial manufacturing setting during the hands-on program while gaining school credit and earning an income.
Te-Kai Shu, Strongwell’s Community Relations Manager, shared, “We are eager to show students at all levels that manufacturing is a viable career option, whether right out of high school or after gaining additional education through college or a trade school. This type of program is perfect to immerse students in a meaningful experience that could help shape their long-term career paths.”
Students applied, went through an interview process, and were selected based on their interests and available positions within Strongwell. They will work in a wide variety of positions, including fabrication, drafting, pultrusion operations, machining, and more over the course of the 18-week learning experience.
