Boys Home of Virginia will host a special event on Friday, March 22 to induct Mr. Donnie Wheatley into the Boys Home Hall of Fame, Class of 2024. The Hall of Fame began in 1998 to celebrate outstanding contributions made to the Boys Home organization. It has been several years since the Hall of Fame has been held and they are excited to honor such a wonderful man.

Donnie Wheatley arrived at Boys Home as a resident in 1959. He attended Alleghany High School and graduated in 1966. In 1985, he returned to Boys Home with his family to become the executive director for 36 years, until his retirement in 2021. Boys Home is honored to recognize him as an alumnus who has lived an exemplary life and has been an inspiration to others, as well as significantly contributing to the mission of Boys Home.

Boys Home of Virginia, founded in 1906, provides a healthy and supportive environment for young men whose lives have been negatively impacted by poverty or family instability.  Students are provided food, clothing, shelter, and guidance in a manner that supports the successful transition to adulthood along with educational and career opportunities.  Boys Home, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, is almost entirely privately funded by individuals, organizations, churches, and foundations.
