Barbara Humpton, president and CEO of Siemens, will be the featured speaker at George Mason University’s 2024 Spring Commencement. The ceremony is set for 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, in EagleBank Arena on the Fairfax Campus.
At Siemens since 2011, Humpton guides the technology company’s strategy and engagement in the United States and previously served as president and CEO of Siemens Government Technologies Inc. Before joining Siemens, Humpton served as a vice president at Booz Allen Hamilton and Lockheed Martin Corporation.
Humpton chairs the Siemens Corporation Board, the Siemens Foundation, and the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments. Humpton and Mason President Gregory Washington each serve on the Economic Club of Washington, D.C., board of directors.
Humpton, who grew up in Lexington, Virginia, the daughter of two math professors, earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Wake Forest University. During the pandemic, she started a podcast called “The Optimistic Outlook.”
