A Leadership Training Program Produced by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce

FREDERICKSBURG, VA- Carley Walker, Senior Vice President of Workforce & Community Development, of the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Wendy Zelazny, Senior Vice President of Membership & Strategic Growth, have graduated from the Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and have received the recognition of IOM. Awarded to all graduates of the Institute program, the IOM Graduate Recognition signifies the individual’s completion of 96 credit hours of course instruction in non-profit management.

Since its commencement in 1921, the Institute program has been educating tens of thousands of associations, chamber, and other nonprofit leaders on how to build stronger organizations, better serve their members and become strong business advocates. The institute’s curriculum consists of four week-long sessions at four different university locations throughout the country. Through a combination of required courses and electives in areas such as leadership, advocacy, marketing, finance, and membership, Institute participants are able to enhance their own organizational management skills and add new fuel to their organizations, making them run more efficiently and effectively.

Chamber President & CEO Susan Spears, IOM, has served on the U.S. Chamber IOM Northeast Board of Regents since 2020. Immediately following the graduation ceremony, which was held on the Villanova campus, Spears announced promotions to Executive Vice President for both Walker and Zelazny:  “Carley Walker’s dedication to excellence has been demonstrated through the success of the Chamber’s Workforce NOW program and her exceptional leadership since joining our team in 2021. Wendy Zelazny’s unwavering commitment to each Chamber member’s success has reimagined the organization’s growth strategies and individual offerings since she joined our team in 2018. Earning their IOM certification demonstrates their leadership and expertise as Chamber of Commerce executives. They are tremendous assets to the organization and our regional community.”
