RICHMOND, VA – Today, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce Interim President and Chief Executive Officer Keith Martin released the following statement on the federal government shutdown:

“The Virginia Chamber of Commerce urges leaders in Washington to work together and find a bipartisan solution to end the current federal government shutdown. A shutdown will inflict immediate harm to Virginia’s economy, workforce, and businesses by creating uncertainty for industries and delaying critical federal services and projects that employers and communities rely on. The Virginia Chamber calls on Congress and the Administration to act swiftly in the best interest of the Commonwealth and the nation.”
