RICHMOND, VIRGINIA — The NextEra Energy and Dominion Energy announcement today outlines a number of very positive benefits for Virginia, including new jobs and investment, workforce development, expanded energy infrastructure, and opportunities to strengthen the Commonwealth’s energy supply chain. These future investments would support Virginia’s continued economic growth and competitiveness at a time when reliable, affordable energy is increasingly important to businesses and communities.
“We believe the potential merger between NextEra Energy and Dominion Energy warrants thoughtful consideration as the proposal moves through the regulatory review process. Today’s announcement provides evidence that NextEra Energy and Dominion Energy are committed to the Commonwealth of Virginia,” said Brad N. Hall, President and CEO of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce.
The Virginia Chamber will continue to evaluate the proposed merger and its implications for the Commonwealth. On Thursday, October 15, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, the Virginia Chamber will host a Forum on Infrastructure, where Ed Baine, Executive Vice President of Utility Operations and President of Dominion Energy Virginia, and John Ketchum, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of NextEra Energy, Inc., will discuss the proposed merger and what it could mean for Virginia’s energy landscape.
