Forums Will Give Voters the Opportunity to Hear from Candidates
[Danville, VA] – The Danville Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce will host a free event for the public featuring candidates running for Danville City Council and Danville City School Board. The format will feature five minutes of comments by each candidate. Questions will be collected at the door and will be answered as time permits.
The event will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, beginning with a meet and greet at 5:30 p.m. at Danville Community College’s Oliver Hall which is in the Temple Building located at 1007 Bonner Avenue. The forum will begin at 6:00 p.m. All candidates have confirmed attendance.

The public may also submit questions for the candidates at https://bit.ly/CityCandidateForums. Written responses will be posted on the Chamber’s website and shared with local media. The deadline to submit questions is September 27, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
The forum will be moderated by Linda Green, chair of Chamber’s Legislative Committee. “Citizens vote for leaders to represent them and their ideas, and leaders have an obligation to support the citizens’ interests,” said Green. “That requires strong communications between the candidates and their constituents to ensure that the opportunities and concerns of the citizens are considered first and foremost in the decisions for which the local official will preside. The Chamber is pleased to support this opportunity to know your candidates before you vote.”
