CICV President Christopher K. Peace Appointed to Statewide Board of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities
August 7th, 2025

RICHMOND, VA – July 22, 2025— The Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV) is proud to announce that its President, Christopher K. Peace, Esq., has been appointed to serve on the statewide Board of Directors of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities (VCIC). In addition to his board service, Mr. Peace has been selected to join the organization’s Governance Committee, which oversees policy development and board recruitment.

VCIC collaborates with schools, businesses, and communities across the Commonwealth to address all forms of prejudice and promote inclusive practices that enhance academic achievement, workplace productivity, and social trust.

“This appointment is especially meaningful to me,” said Peace. “In the early 1990s, I attended the Metrotown program in Richmond, then offered by the National Conference of Christians and Jews under the leadership of the late Dr. Jeff Spence. That formative experience taught me the enduring value of inclusive dialogue and the moral imperative of mutual understanding by speaking across difference—values I’ve carried with me throughout my public service and higher ed leadership.”

As a member of the Governance Committee, Mr. Peace will help oversee board policy, identify and recruit new board members, and support practical board orientation and evaluation processes. He joins VCIC’s efforts to ensure best practices in nonprofit governance while promoting a strategic vision aligned with the organization’s mission of inclusion and equity.

Mr. Peace brings a wealth of leadership experience to this role, having served for 14 years in the Virginia House of Delegates and now leading CICV, an organization representing 28 private colleges and universities across the Commonwealth.
