The Virginia Prosperity Project (VAP2) was awarded the Prosperity Project STAR Award for recognition of its Voter Registration and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) programs in 2012 from the national business organization BIPAC.
Through the Virginia Prosperity Project, the Virginia Chamber communicates information regarding important public policy topics to businesses and employees, and makes it possible for individuals to have their voices heard by their elected officials. The program is designed to educate and engage employee-voters, resulting in a better climate for economic growth, competitiveness and jobs in Virginia.
In a short period of time, The Virginia Prosperity Project has become a brand that the voters go to for innovative and educational election information. In addition to the tools provided to a network of Prosperity Project users, VAP2 continuously breaks the mold with their GOTV programs, which included candidate video questionnaires and electronic billboards focusing on issues affecting voters in Virginia during the 2012 election cycle.
“The efforts put forth by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce have an incredible effect on competitiveness, economic growth and prosperity in the state,” Gregory Casey, President and CEO of BIPAC, said. “The national business community recognizes the endeavors at the state level which allow our nation to prosper; we are honored to have such a dedicated, successful, and innovative program to influence and guide the business community and voters in Virginia”.
