Healthcare and Life Sciences Industry Council

The Healthcare and Life Sciences Industry Council provides thought leadership and advises policy research to better understand the state’s unique healthcare challenges. Representing a diverse coalition of Virginia’s leading healthcare businesses, the Industry Council is working collaboratively to advance Virginia’s world-class healthcare system.

Mission:

To foster collaboration with the business community and stakeholders to identify and address health-related challenges and opportunities, support evidence-based practices, and encourage innovation in healthcare and life sciences.

Vision:

To promote the health and well-being of all Virginians by advancing the fields of healthcare and life sciences through education and advocacy.

Industry Council Areas of Focus:

The Industry Council is working to implement the policies and initiatives outlined in the Healthcare chapter of the Virginia Chamber’s strategic plan, Blueprint Virginia 2030. The five areas of focus identified within the document detail specific policy recommendations aimed at strengthening the Virginia healthcare industry. Representing the objectives and goals of the Healthcare Industry Council, the five areas of focus broadly stated include:

  • Support population and health and wellness
  • Improving access
  • Strengthening quality while controlling and reducing cost
  • Fostering innovation throughout healthcare and life sciences
  • Bolster health care talent supply
  • Improve health equity and social determinants of health
