December 13th, 2012

Chicago, IL, December 12, 2012 – Orbitz Worldwide – named earlier this year as America’s favorite travel industry company to work for by online employee review site Glassdoor – received  another kudo today by making a spot on Glassdoor’s fifth annual Employees’ Choice Awards list, which recognizes the 50 Best Places to Work for the upcoming year.

Glassdoor received a 2012 Webby Award from the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences as the best employment website and provides insights into more than 250,000 employers. As the leading social jobs and career community, it provides  an inside look at jobs and companies with more than 4 million pieces of employee-generated content, including company reviews, salary reports, interview questions and reviews, office photos, and more.

Orbitz, the only online travel company to make the coveted Best Places to Work list, placed number 26 receiving a 4.0 out of 5.0 rating from employees. Orbitz Worldwide CEO Barney Harford’s approval rating from reviews shared in the past year is 87% compared to the average CEO approval rating of 68% for all CEOs on Glassdoor.

The 2013 Glassdoor Best Places to Work list is determined using feedback employees voluntarily and anonymously provide via an online company survey. The company reviews survey asks the employee how satisfied they are at work, if they approve of the job the CEO is doing, the pros and cons of working at the company, and what advice they would give to senior management.

Orbitz Worldwide employs almost 1500 employees, including nearly 800 at its Chicago corporate headquarters. It is one of the world’s leading online travel sites, operating in over 140 countries and annually generating more than $11 billion in travel bookings.
