LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS-DIRECTOR

Virginia, Maryland and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives, an electric utility trade association, seeks a Director of Legislative Affairs.  The incumbent of this position develops and maintains effective working relationships with state legislators in Virginia and with members of Congress representing VA, MD and DE to ensure cooperative positions on key legislative issues are understood and supported.  Works effectively with our large active membership across a three state region and ODEC to develop consensus positions on issues that are important to electric cooperatives.  Attends political fundraising events as well as events with a variety of collaborative groups which share our interest in key legislative and regulatory issues.  Collaborates with other departmental employees in enhancing political action committee and grassroots/grasstops programs.

The successful candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in advocacy positions at a state level, ideally in VA, MD, DE.  Federal experience a plus.  BS/BA in liberal arts, political science, history, communications/journalism.
