November 9th, 2016

NEWPORT NEWS, VA (11/9/16) – Alan Witt, CPA, Partner and CEO of PBMares, LLP has been named Honorary Chairman for An Achievable Dream’s 24th Annual Tennis Ball, which will take place November 19 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. Kathy Edwards, President and CEO of An Achievable Dream, was pleased that Alan Witt accepted the honor. “We are thrilled that Alan will serve as the Honorary Chairman of An Achievable Dream’s 24th Annual Tennis Ball.  He has been a tremendous supporter and friend to our organization since it began.  I know Alan will bring his usual enthusiasm and charm to lead a very successful and meaningful Tennis Ball.”

A recognized leader in Hampton Roads, Witt has made many contributions to the community and has received numerous awards recognizing his commitment.  His most recent awards include the 2016 Community Builder’s Award presented by the Virginia Freemasons and the 2010 Peninsula Humanitarian Award presented by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities.  Leadership roles include:  Chairman,  Riverside Health System; Board of Directors, Virginia Chamber of Commerce; member and former President, Greater Peninsula Now; Board of Directors, Hampton Roads Business Roundtable;  and Board of Directors, Towne Bank.

“PBMares has been a long-time supporter of An Achievable Dream and I am proud to serve as this year’s honorary chairman of the Tennis Ball,” said Witt. “I remember when my dear friend and community leader  Walter Segaloff created the summer and after school tutoring and tennis program in 1992.  The fact that under his leadership and guidance, his original vision grew into what is now a highly successful, nationally recognized K–12 public/private partnership is a testament to his passion for the youth of our community.  We can all learn from the example he set.”

Segaloff passed in 2013.  Proceeds from the event help support the SAME ® (social, academic and moral education) curriculum that provides educational and enrichment opportunities for students. For more information including ticket and sponsorship information, visit http://achievabledream.org/ or call (757) 599-9472.
