NEWPORT NEWS, VA – October 9, 2019 – Draper Aden Associates (“DAA”), a Mid-Atlantic engineering, surveying, and environmental services firm, recently added two new team members to its Utilities division in Hampton Roads. Based in the firm’s Newport News office, Adrianna Dimperio, P.E and Amanda Lothes, P.E., PMP will be integral to serving clients and expanding the firm’s utilities work throughout the state.

Dimperio joined the firm as a Utilities Team Leader. She has over 18 years of experience in the water and wastewater industry and most recently served as Chief Engineer for Newport News Waterworks, a regional water utility serving over 400,000 customers in Hampton Roads. In this role, Dimperio oversaw planning, design and construction activities for all above ground assets, including dams, pump stations, treatment facilities and storage tanks. She also has extensive experience in Utility Management. Dimperio has significant expertise on Asset Management Program development and was responsible for creating the Asset Management Program at Newport News Waterworks, which is a model for utilities across the country.
At DAA, Dimperio will lead projects and teams and identify new opportunities for the firm. She also will serve as an advisor for current and future clients on a wide array of utilities matters, including the development, implementation and supervision of utility management programs.

Dimperio holds leadership positions in utility associations, such as serving as a trustee of the Virginia Section of the American Water Works Association and having served as co-chair of the WaterJAM 2019 Conference. She also is a recognized and frequent speaker at national and state conferences on the water and wastewater industry.
Lothes joined DAA as a Project Manager. An experienced engineer and project manager with over eight years of experience, she most recently was a Facilities Engineer for Newport News Waterworks. Among Lothes’ notable projects, she served in a project management role for the Lee Hall Reservoir Dam Rehabilitation Project in Newport News, including the replacement of an over 100-year-old principal spillway, auxiliary spillway construction and total dam rehabilitation. She also has led asset management initiatives to develop criteria for risk assessment and a dam safety program to ensure regulatory compliance.
At DAA, she will lead projects related to water resources and water utilities.
Dimperio received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia. Lothes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University Institute of Technology and a Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Kentucky
