By Growing Communities Together, Marstel-Day environmental consulting celebrated Earth Day on April 21, partnering with local organizations across the country to support a variety of natural resource conservation projects. Marstel-Day has kept this company-wide Earth Day commitment for 13 consecutive years.

Some of Marstel-Day’s projects in Virginia included planting 100 native trees with Tree Fredericksburg to support Fredericksburg’s urban forest and overall quality of life; a single young tree can absorb 26 pounds of CO2 per year, and in total, these trees will absorb 2,600 pounds of atmospheric carbon per year. According to Anne Little, Founder of Tree Fredericksburg: “Tree Fredericksburg has partnered with Marstel Day on Earth Day since 2010, and every year this event gets better and better. Together with Marstel-Day, we have planted a small forest in the parks and along the streets of Fredericksburg. This urban forest brings so many benefits to our residents and visitors, and helps beautify our city for all to enjoy.”
Marstel-Day also partnered with Downtown Greens in Fredericksburg, VA, to remove invasive species, clean and clear pathways, and repair a rain barrel system and composting station; and some of Marstel-Day’s Fredericksburg employees also replanted three on-site gardens for perennial pollinators, wildflowers, and vegetables with this year’s supply of native, organic, and locally-sourced soils, plants, and seeds.
Some of Marstel-Day’s projects in California and Texas included local beach clean ups in the Oceanside, CA area; partnering with Mojave Desert Land Trust to restore trails near Twentynine Palms, California; and clearing trails and restoring native grassland at Lake Mitchell Audubon Center Trail Stewards in San Antonio, Texas.
