A Message from The Virginia Chamber: COVID-19 Update Governor Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency on Thursday, March 12, after the Virginia Department of Health confirmed 29 “presumptive positive” cases in Virginia. The Virginia Chamber of Commerce is working closely with our government partners and is dedicated to supporting our workforce throughout the Commonwealth. With the recent reports of COVID-19 cases within the United States, it is imperative that the business community utilize strategies to be as prepared as possible to protect the health of our workforce. Last week, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce released the COVID-19 Resource Center to provide the latest information on COVID-19. We encourage all members of the chamber community to utilize this resource to ensure your business and employees have the necessary information to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. As business leaders, we all play a vital role in not only preventing the spread of COVID-19, but also enacting everyday safety and wellness precautions to keep our workforce healthy. The Virginia Chamber is currently evaluating our 2020 spring public programming and events schedule and will provide timely updates on postponements and cancellations as they develop. In addition to concerns surrounding public events, the Chamber also continues to encourage Virginia businesses to allow for flexibility during this time, while ensuring continuity of operations We will continue to monitor this situation closely on behalf of the business community, provide regular updates through our resource center, and encourage members of the business community to reach out to our team with any additional questions or resource requests. Please keep us advised on how your business is being impacted. These communications can be directed to policy@vachamber.com Best Regards, Barry E. DuVal President |
