Right-to-Work

Protecting Virginia’s Right-to-Work

At the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, we’re focused on championing and protecting Virginia’s right-to-work statute as the foundation of workforce flexibility, employee choice, and the freedom of association. Right-to-work helps keep Virginia competitive by supporting a climate where businesses can grow, jobs can expand, and workers can make decisions about representation and dues consistent with their personal beliefs.

Why Right-to-Work Matters:

Right-to-work is about maintaining a pro-opportunity environment for employers and employees alike. It supports:

  • Employee choice in whether to join or financially support a labor organization

  • Workforce flexibility that helps employers respond to market needs

  • A competitive business climate that strengthens Virginia’s ability to attract and retain jobs

  • Freedom of association—protecting individual decisions

Our advocacy focuses on:

  • Monitoring legislation that could weaken right-to-work protections

  • Educating policymakers on the economic competitiveness implications

  • Elevating employer perspectives through coordinated, statewide advocacy

  • Connecting members to timely updates, talking points, and engagement opportunities

Join the Virginia Chamber of Commerce as we champion policies that keep Virginia open for business and strong for workers.
